The Regional Development Network is presently seeking candidates for a full-time social economy officer position.
The Regional Development Network (RDN) is a provincial network of regional organizations working collaboratively to encourage the socio-economic development of English-speaking communities across Québec. It was founded in November 2019 to respond to the need for effective representation and engaged involvement in enhancing the vitality and supporting the development of English-speaking communities across Québec.
SEEnet is the social economy initiative of RDN.
Social Economy Officer
The social economy officer will have the opportunity to work with English speakers and their communities in a minority setting across the province of Québec to support the socio-economic development of these communities via the social economy. The social economy officer oversees and assists with multiple components of RDN’s SEEnet social economy initiative, including education, project management, and building the presence of the initiative within the provincial ecosystem. The social economy officer reports to the social economy manager.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The social economy officer performs a wide range of duties including the following:
Social Economy Education and Training:
- Drive the development of SEEnet’s education programming by identifying key learning gaps within the English-speaking community and shaping targeted initiatives to address those needs.
- Design, organize, and execute webinars and in-person training sessions, selecting impactful hosts and adapting content from the social economy ecosystem into English. Ensure content is dynamic and engaging, contributing to the continuous professional development of SEEnet’s community.
- Work with the CQCM and provincial English-language schools to better integrate social economy education into their curriculums.
- Foster innovation in social economy communities of practice by proactively engaging RDN members and affiliated groups in collaborative learning and knowledge-sharing opportunities that elevate the effectiveness of social economy initiatives in English-speaking Québec.
Project Management:
- Take ownership of SEEnet-supported social economy projects, driving them forward with a strategic approach and ensuring timely execution.
- Proactively identify and facilitate key resources—such as funding opportunities, strategic partnerships, and collaboration tools—that project leads need to succeed. Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders and empower project teams to achieve their goals.
- Coordinate project logistics and also contribute to the overall project strategy and its alignment with SEEnet’s broader objectives.
- Ensure optimal communication between participating partners, providing solutions for any project bottlenecks and fostering an environment of shared responsibility and accountability.
Marketing and Communications:
- Collaborate closely with the communications officer to develop innovative marketing initiatives that elevate the visibility of social economy enterprises and initiatives in Québec.
- Work with the communications officer to create and implement strategic campaigns for social media, websites, and other communication channels to raise awareness about SEEnet’s role, services, and the broader social economy ecosystem.
- Drive engagement by promoting SEEnet’s projects and services and ensure consistent, clear messaging that resonates with the English-speaking social economy community.
Building SEEnet’s Presence in the Social Economy Ecosystem:
- Collaborate closely with the social economy manager in expanding SEEnet’s presence within the provincial social economy ecosystem through strategic outreach efforts, relationship-building, and networking. Establish SEEnet as a key player within the broader social economy landscape.
- Strengthen connections with provincial and regional social economy organizations, particularly the regional social economy Pôles, by initiating and supporting networking events, partnerships, and collaborative projects.
- Serve as an ambassador for SEEnet, representing the initiative at industry events, discussions, and coalitions to elevate the profile of SEEnet and its mission.
