Le Chantier de l’économie sociale has created a guide to the social economy in English. There’s even a history of the social economy in Québec, which dates back to the mid-19th century.

COMITÉ SECTORIEL DE MAIN-D'OEUVRE DE L'ÉCONOMIE SOCIALE ET DE L'ACTION COMMUNAUTAIRE: YOUR VALUES, YOUR CAREER

The Comité Sectoriel de main-d’oeuvre de l’économie sociale et de l’action communautaire has created a new resource in English. The Your Values, Your Career document will help you learn more about career options that align with your values and have social impact. Check it out to learn more about 200 exciting career in the social economy and community action sector.

LA FECHAQC: HOUSING COOPERATIVES

The Fédération des coopératives d’habitation de Québec, Chaudière-Appalaches‘s presentation explains the basics of housing cooperatives: what they are, how they work, and how to access them.

LOCAL ROOTEDNESS FOR SOCIAL ECONOMY ENTERPRISES

We collaborated with the Pôle jamésien d’économie sociale to create an English-language version of its document explaining “ancrage territoriale” (local rootedness). For any social economy enterprise project, it’s essential that strong local roots and connections be created with local and regional institutions, citizens, the sector of activity, and the solidarity finance ecosystem. This chart explains who makes up these different categories and what kind of support they can offer, both financial and in-kind. It also shows how to have governance practices rooted in the community, as well as how to calculate your project’s social utility, which is the effect it’s having on your community.

Territoires innovants en économie sociale et solidaire (TIESS) has created a guide called Scaling in the Social Economy. This guide helps you plan for growth with your social economy enterprise and maximize impact.
