STORYTELLING SUPPORT MICRO-GRANT
Preserving Heritage. Promoting Tourism.
- Up to $750 available for culture and heritage revenue-generating nonprofits
- Deadline: July 1, 2025
- Eligible Regions: Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Côte-Nord, and Bas-Saint-Laurent
About the Grant
We are offering micro-grants of up to $750 to support eligible nonprofit culture and heritage organizations—such as local museums—in compiling and submitting stories to a new province-wide storytelling platform.
This funding is meant to offset the time, resources, or staffing required to gather and prepare content that showcases the rich history, culture, and contributions of English-speaking communities (ESCs) across Québec.
Why It Matters
Many historical records and stories from ESCs are at risk of being lost. This initiative seeks to preserve local heritage and promote regional tourism by helping communities share their stories through an upcoming bilingual mobile app developed by the Regional Development Network.
The app will feature multimedia stories linked to real-world places, supporting both cultural preservation and economic development through tourism.
Story Guidelines
Eligible organizations may submit up to 10 stories, each of which must include:
- A historical connection to the regional ESC
- A place or point of interest that travellers can visit
- A written narrative (500–2500 words)
- A main image and an Image gallery (3–10 images)
- At least 1 video (30 seconds–3 minutes)
- Optional: Audio files, website links, or third-party sources
Eligibility
- Categories: History, Folklore, Culinary, Arts and Crafts, Architecture, Music, and Visual Arts
- Nonprofits with a self-generated revenue component (e.g., museums)
- Based in the Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madelene, Côte-Nord, or Bas-Saint-Laurent regions
