The Morrin Centre: A Social Enterprise Success Story

Join SEEnet, the Pôle des entreprises d’économie sociale de la Capitale-Nationale, and the Morrin Centre to talk about repurposing historic buildings as a social economy initiative and to learn about the example of the Morrin Centre!

Repurposing historic buildings is an important social economy initiative throughout Québec. In the early 2000s, the Literary and Historical Society of Quebec (LHSQ) underwent a major campaign to refurbish its 1800s-era building and create the Morrin Centre, now the heart of arts and culture in Québec City’s English-speaking community. Learn more about the LHSQ’s road to developing the Morrin Centre as a shining example of repurposing a historic but underused space into a well-loved community attribute.

The Pôle des entreprises d’économie sociale de la Capitale-Nationale will be on hand to discuss how social enterprises, cooperatives, and nonprofits play a major role in our region.

The event will also include a tour of the Morrin Centre’s historic prison and a first look at its new exhibit.
